DNS

Domain records, DNS and email health, and DNS answers from around the world.

What is DNS?

DNS is the internet’s phone book: it turns names like example.com into IP addresses (A and AAAA records) and says which server receives a domain’s email (MX). TXT records prove domain ownership and carry email policies.

A few records stop email forgery: SPF says which servers may send mail for the domain, and DMARC says what to do with mail that fails that check. DNSSEC signs DNS answers so they cannot be changed on the way, and CAA names the authorities allowed to issue SSL certificates for the domain.
